What exactly are guardshacks? Guardshacks are small buildings in which people work, usually as security personnel. Surprisingly, guardshacks are all over the place, but people often pay little attention to them unless they have to. Guardshacks, also commonly referred to as guard booths, are the small buildings that are typically seen outside of government buildings, military sites, in various locations at the local airport, in stadiums, as well as in front of many other style buildings. Guardshacks are used to house individuals that are serving the needs of security, whether it is for a business or a government establishment. Other places one might find a guardshack are at fueling stations, at amusement parks, at border crossing locales, and even at stadiums.

Guardshacks are small buildings meant to maintain the comfort of the individual or individuals within the establishment, while at the same time providing them with easy and immediate access to the outer perimeter of the building. The guard shack serves as a shelter for employees that protect the primary location; they are extremely weather proof buildings with plenty of glass windows installed for easy viewing of the property.

Most guardshacks are shipped completely assembled and they can be immediately set up and used. Guardshacks are often made of aluminum, are welded together and include everything to create a complete structure: solid flooring, complete 360 viewing is possible within such structures, and the glass is tempered for the employees’ safety. Lighting and electricity are also available within such structures ensuring that they can be used year round and the employee will remain comfortable at all times. Finally, the doors on guardshacks are usually made of thick, durable steel.

Guardshacks are available in different shapes and sizes, and many of the guardshacks available today are quite attractive. Plus, the safety features that accompany many of today’s guard shacks are truly amazing: giving employees the ultimate in terms of protection. Many guardshacks are bullet proof, sound proof, will remain safely intact in the event of an explosion, and some guard shacks are elevated off of the ground to establish a completely safe observation tower. Established on mezzanines, guardshacks can give a security officer a full, bird’s eye view of an entire area.

Guardshacks are also commonly referred to as guard houses, are perfect when a company is in need of a security solution. While many guardshacks are made of aluminum, some manufacturers combine aluminum and concrete to create such structures. Further, many of the guardshacks available on the market today are completely portable and some are even air conditioned for maximum comfort during hot and muggy months. It may be hard to imagine something as large as a guardshack being portable, but it is quite easy to realize a guardshack’s portability when it is explained that many guardshacks can be moved easily with a forklift. Thus, the investment in a portable guardshack is a money saving venture—should the property outline change in the future, the guardshack can be easily moved to a new location on the premises.

The frames of guardshacks are typically fashioned out of anti-rusting material. Built to endure any element, guardshacks are nicely insulated and insure excellent ventilation at all times. The outside of the structure is made of a variety of materials, from wood to vinyl, from steel to hardboard; the purchaser has their choice of outside coverings. Other guardshacks have exteriors made of heavy duty stucco or paneling—the diversity afforded to the purchasers is truly endless. Further, the windows in guardshacks are either double or single paned, depending on the consumer’s selection and many guardshacks come with phone jacks included for easy landline establishment.

Within the interior of guardshacks workers will be surprised by the level of comfort afforded to them. Spacious countertops, soundproof buildings give employees a quiet place to work that keeps them protected from the elements and from injury. Today’s guardshacks are large enough to give one or two employees a good deal of moving room without being obtrusive on a property. Ranging from 4’ x 8’ to 8’ x 10’, depending upon the manufacturer and the floor plan selected.

Most guard houses can be customized to match the exterior of other structures that already exist on a location in question. The exterior of guardshacks is easily washable, a simple high pressure house can clean the vinyl siding that is part of the exterior of most guardshacks. The vinyl covering comes in a variety of colors so a guardshack can be made to look as if it has always been a part of one’s property—like it was established at the same time that all of the other buildings on the property were established.

Essentially, getting a guardshack doesn’t mean that you will have uncomfortable employees running the guardshack. Guardshacks are now created to, not only meet certain safety requirements by law or client policy, but to meet the comfort needs of the persons responsible for working in and around the guardshack in question. Beautifully designed, aesthetically pleasing, safe, reliable and durable—today’s guardshacks are a small office away from major structures that insures the maximum safety of everyone on an existing property.
